Shorter attention spans can sometimes be a challenge for school-aged children (especially the younger ones) when it comes to absorbing information in the classroom. However, a new study by a team at Texas A&M University on 2nd-4th graders shows that standing desks are an excellent way to improve student engagement. As THE Journal notes, “[t]he preliminary results suggest that students improve their ability to stay on task by 12 percent. That’s the equivalent of gaining an extra seven minutes per hour of instruction time.”
