Readability Analysis Service

Questar’s DRP Readability Analysis Service provides objective, consistent computations of the text difficulty, or readability, of printed materials.  These materials include textbooks, works of literature, popular titles, and non-curricular materials such as newspapers, periodicals, and manuals.

Each year, thousands of new titles are analyzed. The results, reported in terms of DRP units, appear in DRP-BookLink software (Literature and Popular Titles) and on our Web site (textbooks). Because the same DRP units are used for reporting student performance on DRP tests and for reporting text difficulty, student reading ability and text difficulty can be directly linked.

Teachers using textbooks or popular titles that are not listed in DRP-BookLink or on our Web site may call Questar at 1-800-800-2598 to make arrangements for submitting those books for DRP readability analysis. The service is also available to publishers, librarians, curriculum planners, and other school administrators.
