Psychometric Services

Questar Assessment, Inc., provides a wide range of test design and development, psychometric, and research services. We believe that a strong foundation leads to confidence in test results; therefore, our research staff begins its work with a series of consultative sessions where the requirements and goals for the testing program can be defined, clarified, and effectively communicated. Following a well thought-out plan for test design, implementation, analysis, scaling, equating, standard setting, and reporting results in an effectively executed assessment program. We manage, conduct, and thoroughly document all aspects of research, psychometrics, and standard setting activities. Our expert staff also provides test design services and the ability to oversee item development and test construction phases of the testing program.

Questar Assessment's research services include design, development, and implementation of reliability, validity, accountability, and program evaluation studies. These types of studies document and support the technical adequacy of a testing program and the effectiveness of accountability systems, as well as evaluate the strengths and limitations of assessment programs.

Psychometric services offered by Questar Assessment include item analysis, test analysis, scaling, horizontal and vertical equating, differential item functioning (DIF), as well as standard setting (including vertical moderation) and subsequent analysis. Methodologies utilized include classical true score, Rasch, and 3PL item-response theory. Questar uses industry-standard software.

Questar Assessment can design and conduct generalizability studies and other multivariate analyses as required. In addition, we provide report design services to aid the client in providing useful, accurate, and interpretable information to various stakeholders of the testing program.

Standard setting services offered by Questar Assessment include Angoff, Modified Angoff, and Bookmark procedures; these services include the design, development, implementation, and documentation of each of these methods. Should the customer desire, other methods of standard setting, including Body of Work and Contrasting Groups, can also be conducted.
