Questar Assessment Inc. Becomes a Contributing Member
of the IMS Global Learning Consortium,
Deepens Commitment to Technology-Enabled Innovation

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Date: June 30, 2015

Questar Assessment Inc. announced today that it has become a contributing member of the IMS Global Learning Consortium. The Minneapolis, Minnesota-based K–12 assessment provider was previously an affiliate member but decided to become more deeply involved to better support the consortium’s mission of advancing technology that can affordably scale and improve educational participation and attainment. With its focus on providing a bridge between accountability and student learning for states and school districts, Questar Assessment was one of the first companies in the educational assessment industry to have applied for and been awarded the Accessible Portable Item Protocol® (APIP®) v1 Content Package Conformance and APIP v1 Delivery Conformance certifications by the IMS Global Learning Consortium.

As a contributing member of IMS Global, Questar Assessment gains a seat on the newly formed IMS Executive Board on Assessment (EBA), a group of industry executives committed to creating a highly interoperable end-to-end assessment architecture needed to enable online testing innovation and worldwide growth. Keith Koch, Chief Technology Officer for Questar Assessment, will serve on the EBA.

“I am honored to represent Questar Assessment on the EBA board and have the opportunity to work with other committed professionals to lead the development of the next generation of K–12 assessment standards, technologies, and best practices,” said Koch. “I speak for all of Questar when I say that we are excited to collaborate with IMS and continue to contribute to the community of assessment vendors — and the teachers and students they ultimately serve — to improve educational outcomes.”

EBA board members and the companies they represent are committed to dedicating the time, energy, and resources needed to advance the mission of the EBA. The board is focused on achieving end-to-end interoperability to improve content portability, standards compliance, and QTI® enhancements and usability.

“Questar Assessment has shown superior commitment to open standards by achieving both IMS Global APIP certifications for their testing platform, and we are pleased to have their leadership as part of the EBA to advocate for and accelerate the industry to achieve end-to-end test interoperability,” said Rob Abel, Chief Executive Officer of IMS Global Learning Consortium.
