Steve Mesmer is the Senior Vice President of Business Development and Program Management for Questar Assessment, Inc.
In this role, Mr. Mesmer is responsible for growing Questar’s K-12 custom contract business and overseeing the program management department for all of Questar's state clients.
With more than 22 years of experience in education and assessment design, Mr. Mesmer has a proven record of developing innovative and cost-effective assessment solutions for the K-12 market.
Most recently, Mr. Mesmer served as Vice President of Business Development and Solutions at CTB/McGraw-Hill, where he was responsible for the strategy, response to proposals and acquisitions of numerous custom assessment contracts in the United States and international K-12 markets. He also held the position of Vice President of Program Management, where he was responsible for the successful delivery of CTB's state, district and international custom formative and summative assessment programs for the Western United States and internationally.
Previously, Mr. Mesmer served as Publisher and Director of School Programs at Pearson Education's Learning Network, where he led the development of the K-12 Teacher Network for the delivery of online state-aligned curriculum, professional development and student assessments. He also served as Math Curriculum Department manager and worked in numerous senior program management positions at Pearson Education's Computer Curriculum Corporation, where he managed the creation of highly-successful educational technology student assessment and learning management systems.
Prior to entering the educational publishing industry, Mr. Mesmer taught math and science in junior high and high school in San Francisco, California.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Aquatic Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and his teaching credential from San Francisco State University.
