Leon R. Dreyfus, Ph.D.

Vice President, Research and Development

Dr. Leon Dreyfus is the Vice President of Research and Development at Questar Assessment, Inc.  His primary responsibilities include test development and management of technical work as well as consultation on other aspects of Questar client programs, including training, implementation and reporting.  
He has worked on a variety of projects in the field of literacy, authoring and/or designing and directing the development of Questar's proprietary programs, including the TextSense Summary Writing Program, Signposts Early Literacy Assessment System, MAC II Test of English Language Proficiency, Reading Power Essentials assessment program and supervising the ongoing development and technical work on the Degrees of Reading Power program.  
Dr. Dreyfus also works with departments of education in several states on large-scale assessment programs related to the implementation of the No Child Left Behind legislation and on programs assessing the English proficiency of English language learners.
Previously, he was Director of Research and Development for Touchstone Applied Science Associates.  He also worked in Vassar College's Department of Psychology and Program in Cognitive Science and Loyola University’s Department of Psychology.
He has given numerous presentations on assessment in the areas of literacy development, reading proficiency, and the English language proficiency of English learners.
Dr. Dreyfus earned his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Maine, his Master of Science in Psychology from Texas A & M University and his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A & M University.
