RPE Vocabulary Tests
Multiple-choice vocabulary tests assess students' knowledge of words that commonly occur in their grade. Words that are likely to be in use across the curriculum are chosen to assess more general word knowledge.
These vocabulary tests are appropriate for all struggling readers, including English language learners.
RPE Fluency Tests
These tests provide a critical window into students’ mastery of sentence-level processing and beyond.
Along with vocabulary, reading fluency – reading rate and accuracy – is one of the best predictors of overall reading proficiency.
RPE Word Tests
This test consists of two critical tasks:
- Word Recognition – which assesses the extent to which students can quickly recognize grade-level-appropriate words
- Decoding – which requires the student to decode increasingly difficult, phonologically regular nonsense words.
