Susan Trent

Vice President, Assessment Services

Ms. Trent is the Vice President, Assessment Services at Questar Assessment, Inc.  She provides content management and supervision for major state clients.  In addition, she consults with state clients regarding design and implementation, including oversight of the development for all content-area item development and item reviews.

Ms. Trent has 27 years of experience in the large-scale assessment industry and has worked on many of the largest, most complex statewide assessment programs in the country. She has managed and directed performance assessment, professional development, program management, and content development activities for numerous state contracts. In addition, she has extensive experience leading and facilitating large, diverse groups; developing and implementing scoring rubrics and scoring project logistics; generating schedules that effectively meet deadlines; and communicating with item writers, editors, committee members, and clients.
Previously, she was the Vice President of Performance Assessment Services for Data Recognition Corporation, where she was responsible for managing large-scale performance assessment projects involving the handscoring of student essays and constructed responses.
Earlier in her career she served as a Project Manager and Scoring Director at Measurement Incorporated where she worked on some of the earliest statewide performance assessment projects including the Texas Assessment of Basic Skills and the Maryland Writing Test.
Ms. Trent has completed Liberal Studies coursework toward her Master of Arts at Duke University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
