MAC II Test
The MAC II Test of English Language Proficiency® battery offers a comprehensive assessment of English language skills for non-native speakers of English. Tests assess the skills students in kindergarten through high school need to communicate in English and to function successfully in the English-speaking classroom.
A version of the DRP test developed for ELLs and embedded in the MAC II Test is appropriate for assessing the reading ability of ELLs.
ELL norms associated with the DRP portion of the MAC II test allow you to evaluate student ability in terms of:
  • The materials they are expected to read – a criterion-referenced approach
  • The ability of other ELLs or native English speakers in the same grade – a norm-referenced approach
This information can be extremely helpful in deciding whether ELLs are prepared to read the materials used in the mainstream classroom.
