Questar Assessment, Inc. (Questar), a leading educational assessment provider for states, school districts, and higher education institutions, announced today that Andrew Simon, Chairman of Questar’s Board of Directors will retire effective July 31, 2011. As part of the succession planning process, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has appointed Roy Lipner, Questar’s President and Chief Executive Officer since 2008, as the new Chairman of the Board.
Simon founded Questar in 1976—when it was known as Touchstone Applied Science Associates—serving as CFO, President, and CEO, before assuming the role of Chairman of the Board in 2008. Simon will continue to serve on Questar’s Board of Directors and will provide advisory services.
“Since becoming President and CEO, Roy has been instrumental in building Questar into the strong and vibrant K–12 assessment organization that it is today. Roy has ensured that we have an experienced management team in place that will bode well for our future,” said Simon.
“It has been an honor to work with Andy and I appreciate his experience and wisdom,” said Roy Lipner. Lipner continued, “Andy has been a pillar in the education community and I’m pleased that he will remain as a member of our Board. I look forward to continuing our work together on the Board of Directors.”
