Position Summary: The Desktop Support Analyst 1 assists Questar staff with the installation, configuration and ongoing support of desktop/laptop computers, peripheral equipment and software utilizing established standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems. The position’s responsibilities require independent analysis, communication and problem solving. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist Questar staff with the installation, configuration, ongoing support of desktop/laptop computers, peripheral equipment and software utilizing established standards and guidelines
- Engage with vendor support contacts to diagnose, repair desktop hardware, software and printers
- Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems
- Administer and maintain various PC ghost images for hardware sets and departments
- Assist with purchasing and tracking inventory of hardware, software and supplies
- Document, address and resolve assigned issues submitted through the helpdesk ticketing system
- Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve issues with PDAs, printers, network connectivity issues with PC equipment and remote access
- Perform software, hardware and operating system upgrades
- Support Blackberry, Android and other PDA devices authorized by Questar
- Support and troubleshoot wireless networks
- Support remote access including VPN client and connectivity
- Train and teach staff on use of hardware and software
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-4 years in a desktop support related role
- Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Technology or other related field
- Experience supporting a Microsoft windows domain environment
- Windows XP / 7 operating system experience
- Microsoft Office 2003/2007/2010 experience
- Hardware/Software imaging experience (Symantec ghost preferred)
- Experience utilizing asset tracking tools
- Experience with MS Outlook in an MS Exchange Environment (2003/2007/2010)
- Technical documentation experience
- Demonstrated high-level trouble shooting skills
- General understanding of TCP/IP protocols, associated applications
- Ability to lift and move computers and other technology hardware
- Must be willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours
Preferred:
- CompTIA A+ certification
- Experience with Symantec ghost imaging software
