Summary: Questar has an opportunity for a QA Test Architect/Engineer/Developer at our corporate office in Apple Valley, MN. We are seeking a self-motivated, creative and proactive individual to work closely with developers, project managers, technical support and other stakeholders to improve QA processes and train QA team members. The position reports to the QA Manager.
Major Responsibilities:
• Leads the effort to identify testing tools for QA, from defect tracking to automation. Once a tool is selected, the role develops and leads the defect strategy, the traceability strategy, the performance strategy and the automation strategy. Teaches the QA group how to write automated test scripts. Performs tool administration such as adding projects, reporting, etc.
• Designs and leads the development release strategy, including staging, testing, and pushing to production release management processes.
• Interacts with business analysts, project management, and development teams to develop a strong understanding of the project and testing objectives.
• Designs and creates test conditions and scripts to address business and technical use cases.
• Participates in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution.
• Documents, tracks, and escalates issues as appropriate.
Minimum Experience:
• Experience building C# and Java applications.
• Experience with load testing of web based solutions.
• Extensive customer-facing GUI online system experience.
• Vast experience writing manual and automated test scripts based on requirements documents.
• Extensive experience with concurrent user testing, performance testing, and load testing.
• Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies and able to implement and teach Agile processes appropriate for Questar’s line of business.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Expert knowledge of the QA lifecycle and methodology as well as expert technical experience with SQL, testing tools, and automation.
• Must be able to develop code to test C# and Java applications as well as SQL. Must have developer level knowledge of queries, systems functions, importing, local variables, etc. Must be able to develop code to test online and printed reports.
• Proven development/scripting skills in common languages like SQL and Visual Basic.
• Familiarity with software configuration management systems and/or source code version control systems.
• Familiarity with server side products (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server and Java frameworks) and client side products (e.g., knowledge of multiple client OS's, such as Windows/Mac/Linux).
• Excellent knowledge of testing tools and the ability to evaluate tools.
• Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple, diverse projects simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be flexible, independent, and self-motivated.
